Double Fudge Cake

Cake with two layers of fudge

1 package (4 oz.) UNSWEETENED BAKER’S CHOCOLATE
12 cup water 1-34% cup sugar, divided
1–2/3 cup flour
1 teaspoon of baking soda
14 teaspoon salt
12 cup softened butter or margarine
three eggs
34 cup of milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

MICROWAVE chocolate, 1/2 cup sugar, and water in a large microwaveable bowl on HIGH for 2 minutes, stirring after 1 minute, or until chocolate is almost melted. Stir until the chocolate has melted completely. Cool. COMBINE flour, baking soda, and salt in a mixing bowl.

In a large mixing basin, cream together the butter and remaining sugar until light and fluffy. 1 at a time, add the eggs, beating well after each addition. Alternate adding the flour mixture and the milk. Mix in the chocolate mixture and the vanilla extract thoroughly. Pour into two 9-inch round pans that have been greased and dusted.

30 MINUTES IN THE OVEN 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean Cool 10 minutes in pans before removing to wire racks. Allow to cool completely. Fill with Easy Chocolate Frosting and decorate with it.
