Smoked Ham, Potato, and Corn Chowder

Ingredients for Smoked Ham, Potato, and Corn Chowder:
2 tbsp. canola oil 30 ml
2 onions, chopped
3 minced celery stalks
1 gallon (4 cups) broth made with chicken
1 gallon (4 cups) milk
375 g (3/4 lb.) smoked ham
a single leaf
1 thyme sprig
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
1 1/2 cup (375 mL) 250 mL (1 cup) diced potatoes, 250 mL diced sweet potatoes (1 cup) fresh or frozen corn kernels
Preparation:
Step 1: Heat the oil in a pot over medium heat.
Step 2: Saute the onions and celery together.
Step 3: Add the broth and milk to the pot.
Step 4: Combine the ham, herbs, and seasonings in a large mixing bowl. Bring the water to a boil.
Step 5: Cover and cook on low heat for 30 minutes.
Step 6: Mix in the rest of the ingredients.
Cook until the vegetables are soft, about 7 minutes.and the flesh of the ham separates easily. Step8: Remove the ham from the pan and let it cool. Step9: Cut it into thin strips and add it to the soup. Enjoy !
